Code execution via improper project extraction
Published Feb 2, 2024 · Updated Jun 17, 2025
Code injection in B&R Industrial Automation Automation Studio 4.0 through 4.12 allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted project files. The project extraction component applies an improper copy algorithm to attacker-controlled project content and allows that content to execute. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted project; execution occurs with the Automation Studio process privileges on the Windows host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
