Stored XSS via unsanitized default branch name
Published Aug 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in GitLab CE/EE 14.0 through 14.0.6 and 14.1 through 14.1.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in a victim's browser. The empty-project command page renders the group's attacker-controlled default branch name twice without sanitization. An attacker needs group settings access and victim interaction; CSP settings bound the resulting token theft, account actions, or link redirection.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
