Server compromise via outdated embedded Chromium
Published Nov 22, 2023 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Use of outdated Chromium in Elastic Kibana 7.0.0 through 7.12.1 allows remote authenticated users to compromise the server through Reporting. The Reporting feature renders downloadable reports in an embedded Chromium build; attacker-controlled HTML that evades Kibana safeguards can invoke known browser flaws. Access requires permission to generate reports and a path to render arbitrary HTML, and successful exploitation can affect data and service availability in Kibana's process context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
