CVE-2021-2207Public exploit

Database data tampering via unaudited controlfile restoration

Published Apr 22, 2021 · Updated Sep 26, 2024

Improper auditing in Oracle Database Enterprise Edition 12.1.0.2, 12.2.0.1, 18c, and 19c allows local users to alter database data. RMAN records a controlfile restore but omits the affected object from the Unified Audit Trail, obscuring which database object was restored. Exploitation requires local logon and RMAN executable privilege, allowing database updates, inserts, or deletions to evade object-level audit attribution.
