CVE-2021-22053Network attack vector

Authenticated code execution via SpringEL path evaluation

Published Nov 19, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Code injection in Spring Cloud Netflix 2.2.9.RELEASE and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code through a crafted request path. The Hystrix dashboard view resolver evaluates path elements following /hystrix/monitor; as SpringEL expressions instead of treating them as untrusted URI data. The application must include both the Hystrix dashboard and Thymeleaf starter, and low-privileged access is sufficient for code execution in the application context.
