Memory disclosure via uninitialized ping payload
Published Feb 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Uninitialized memory disclosure in Texas Instruments CC3200 SimpleLink Solution NWP 2.9.0.0 allows remote attackers to read data via HTTP. The /ping.html handler accepts an HTTP POST packet-size parameter up to 1,472 bytes, fills only the initial ICMP payload text, and transmits the remaining buffer without initialization. No authentication or user interaction is required; disclosed bytes come from NWP memory, while integrity and availability are unaffected.
