Local privilege escalation via writable service binaries
Published Dec 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Privilege escalation in Ocean Data Systems Dream Report Remote Connector 20.2.16900.0 allows local users to execute privileged code. The default installation grants Everyone full control over Rtm.exe, Rdxa.exe, and their System directory, enabling service-binary replacement or malicious DLL sideloading. A local low-privileged user must modify those files; execution initially gains the service account context and can reach NT SYSTEM through SeImpersonatePrivilege.
