CVE-2021-21910Public exploit

SYSTEM code execution via changeable MySQL service binary

Published Dec 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Privilege escalation in Advantech R-SeeNet 2.4.16 and earlier allows local users to execute code with NT SYSTEM privileges on Windows. The default ACL grants Authenticated Users change access to C:\R-SeeNet\mysql\bin\mysqld.exe, which the MySQL service launches as NT SYSTEM. A low-privileged account must replace that executable and cause the service to restart, granting complete control of the host.
