Root command execution via certificate subject fields
Published Dec 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
OS command injection in Lantronix PremierWave 2050 8.9.0.0R4 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands. SslGenerateCertificate concatenates the s, l, o, ou, or cn form value into an OpenSSL command and passes it through mpnipc_proxy_shell_cmd to a shell without neutralizing metacharacters. Access to the authenticated Web Manager certificate generator is required, and injected commands run as root.
