Root command execution via unsanitized SSID parameter
Published Dec 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
OS command injection in Lantronix PremierWave 2050 8.9.0.0R4 allows remote authenticated users to execute root commands via Web Manager. The WLANScanSSID handler inserts the attacker-controlled ssid parameter without sanitization into an awk expression passed through a system call. An unprivileged Web Manager account can trigger the request, and the resulting shell command runs with root privileges on the gateway.
