Remote memory corruption via Xtra parser
Published Aug 18, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Integer truncation in GPAC Project Advanced Content 1.0.1 allows remote attackers to corrupt memory via a crafted MPEG-4 video. The Xtra FOURCC parser performs an undersized allocation after truncating attacker-controlled length arithmetic, then writes decoded data past the heap buffer. Exploitation requires a user to open the malicious video in a GPAC-based application and can crash the process or enable further memory-corruption consequences.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
