Memory corruption via truncated stri attribute allocation
Published Aug 16, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Integer truncation in GPAC 1.0.1 allows context-dependent attackers to corrupt memory by inducing a user to open a crafted MPEG-4 file. In stri_box_read, an atom-derived attribute count overflows during allocation, producing a zero-sized buffer that the parser then fills with 32-bit attributes. Opening the crafted file is required; the resulting heap overwrite can terminate or subvert the parsing application.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
