Code execution via svhd atom size truncation
Published Aug 18, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Integer overflow in GPAC 1.0.1 MPEG-4 svhd decoding allows remote attackers to corrupt memory through a crafted video file. The svhd_box_read function adds one to an attacker-controlled 64-bit atom size, truncates the result to 32 bits for allocation, then reads the full atom into the undersized heap buffer. Exploitation requires a user to open the file and can execute code in the application's context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
