Code execution via csgp allocation integer overflow
Published Aug 18, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Integer overflow in GPAC 1.0.1 MPEG-4 decoding allows attackers to corrupt memory by convincing a user to open a crafted video. The csgp_box_read function multiplies an untrusted 32-bit pattern length by sizeof(u32), allocates the truncated size, and writes indices beyond the undersized heap buffer. Successful exploitation requires user interaction and executes code in the GPAC process context.
