Code execution via undersized tfra entry allocation
Published Aug 25, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Integer overflow in GPAC 1.0.1 MPEG-4 decoding allows context-dependent attackers to execute code through a crafted tfra atom. The tfra_box_read function multiplies an untrusted entry count by the GF_RandomAccessEntry size, truncates the result on 32-bit builds, allocates an undersized heap array, and then writes parsed entries beyond its bounds. Exploitation requires a user or consuming application to open the malicious MPEG-4 file and yields code execution in the affected process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
