Code execution via fecr entry-count overflow
Published Aug 18, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Integer overflow in the fecr MPEG-4 atom decoder in GPAC 1.0.1 allows attackers to execute code through a crafted video file. The fecr_box_read function multiplies an untrusted entry count by the FECReservoirEntry size, allocates the wrapped result, and then writes parsed integers past the undersized heap buffer. Exploitation requires a user to open the file, and the documented allocation overflow occurs on 32-bit systems.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
