Code execution via co64 entry-count overflow
Published Aug 25, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Integer overflow in GPAC Project GPAC 1.0.1 MPEG-4 decoding allows attackers to execute code by convincing a user to open a crafted video. The co64_box_read function multiplies an untrusted 32-bit entry count by the size of a 64-bit offset without checking size_t overflow, allocates an undersized heap buffer, and writes parsed offsets beyond it. On affected 32-bit builds, opening the file is required, and the overwrite can crash the process or enable code execution in its context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
