Code execution via freed FileAttachment annotation
Published May 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Use-after-free in Foxit PDF Reader 10.1.3.37598 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted PDF. Document-open JavaScript changes pages, creates a FileAttachment annotation that blocks on a file dialog, and a queued page-close handler destroys the still-referenced annotation. Exploitation requires the user to open the document or visit a malicious site with the browser extension enabled, and code runs in the Reader process.
