CVE-2021-21818Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated service interrupt via hard-coded Zebra password

Published Jul 16, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Hard-coded credentials in D-Link DIR-3040 1.13B03 allow remote attackers to interrupt service through the Zebra routing manager. The default TCP port 2601 service reads the literal password zebra from /tmp/zebra.conf for both user and privileged access. Anyone on the reachable network can enter the routing manager with that shared password and send requests that stop the service.
