CVE-2021-2173Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Cross-PDB metadata disclosure via control-file trace

Published Apr 22, 2021 · Updated Sep 26, 2024

Information disclosure in Oracle Database 12.1.0.2, 12.2.0.1, 18c, and 19c allows remote authenticated users to read PDB metadata. A DBA account in one pluggable database can dump the container control file into a trace and query V$DIAG_TRACE_FILE_CONTENTS to recover metadata for other PDBs. The attack requires Oracle Net access and a DBA-level account in a multitenant container; exposure is limited to Recovery-accessible metadata, such as another PDB's SYSTEM data-file path.
