Administrator credential exposure via plaintext utility logs
Published Apr 30, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Cleartext password storage in Dell Technologies Unity before 5.0.7.0.5.008 allows local users with high privileges to obtain administrator access. An older Dell Upgrade Readiness Utility writes the Unisphere Administrator password to a plaintext log on the storage system. The flaw is reachable only after the utility runs, and exploitation requires high-privilege local access to read the exposed credential.
