Application crash via malformed BMP parsing
Published Jan 12, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper input validation in SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer version 9 allows remote attackers to crash the application via a manipulated BMP file. The BMP parser fails to validate attacker-supplied image data before writing past an allocated structure, producing an out-of-bounds write. A user must open the malicious file; exploitation crashes the Viewer until restart and the same flaw can permit code execution in the process.
