Code execution via out-of-bounds DIB parser write
Published Jan 12, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer before 9 allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted DIB file. The DIB parser fails to validate user-supplied dimensions or offsets before writing past the end of an allocated data structure. Exploitation requires the target to open a malicious file or page and runs code in the current process; malformed input can instead crash the Viewer until restart.
