CVE-2021-21420Network attack vector

Arbitrary code execution via malicious settings

Published Apr 1, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper injection in Stripe for Visual Studio Code before 1.7.3 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code via malicious repository settings. The extension loads repository settings without sufficiently validating untrusted values, allowing crafted configuration to reach code-execution paths. Exploitation requires a user to open an untrusted repository; resulting code runs with the current user's privileges, and the vendor reports no exploitation evidence.
