Sandbox escape via dynamic static class access
Published Jan 10, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Sandbox escape in Smarty before 3.1.43 and 4.0.0 through 4.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to invoke restricted PHP methods. The template parser compiled variable-based static class references without applying a nonempty static_classes security-policy allowlist. Template-author capability and an enabled security policy are required; successful exploitation executes a PHP static method forbidden by policy.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
