CVE-2021-21400Network attack vector

Passphrase disclosure via unfocused App Lock input

Published Apr 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Information exposure in Wire Web App before 2021-03-15-production.0 allows remote attackers to receive a user's app-lock passphrase. The AppLock modal leaves its passphrase input unfocused, so keystrokes continue through the active conversation handler and are sent to the most recently used chat. Exposure requires a user to type without first focusing the modal input and discloses the passphrase only to participants in that chat.
