CVE-2021-21385Network attack vector

HTTPS traffic interception via all-trusting client

Published Mar 24, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper certificate validation in Mifos Mobile 7ed4f22 and earlier allows man-in-the-middle attackers to intercept or alter HTTPS traffic. SelfServiceOkHttpClient installs an X509TrustManager whose trust checks return without validation and a HostnameVerifier that always returns true. Exploitation requires control of the app's network path; the attacker can read or modify banking-session traffic accepted under a self-signed or host-mismatched certificate.
