Privileged script execution via macro-author context confusion
Published Mar 12, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper authorization in XWiki Platform allows remote authenticated users to execute injected scripts with a macro author's rights. The wikimacrocontent macro evaluates caller-supplied content under the wiki macro author's permissions rather than preserving the caller's security context. Exploitation requires a custom or extension-provided macro that embeds wikimacrocontent and a caller who invokes attacker-controlled content; XWiki Standard includes no such macro by default.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=>= 11.4.0, < 11.10.11
- Affected versionversion=>= 12.0.0, < 12.6.3
