Renderer heap corruption via AudioHandler lifetime race
Published Jan 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Use after free in Google Chrome before 87.0.4280.141 allows remote attackers to corrupt renderer heap memory via a crafted HTML page. AudioHandler processing runs without the graph lock while ClearHandlersToBeDeleted removes rendering_orphan_handlers_, allowing a handler to be freed during use. Visiting attacker-controlled content triggers the race; the resulting memory-corruption primitive remains inside Chrome's renderer sandbox.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
