CVE-2021-20997Network attack vector

Unauthenticated password-hash disclosure via web management

Published May 13, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Credential exposure in WAGO managed-switch firmware allows remote attackers to read every Web-based Management user's password hash. The coordinated advisory identifies the Web-based Management interface as the exposure point but does not disclose the request path or authorization error that returns the hashes. No authentication or user interaction is required; network access to the web server is sufficient, and the hashes enable offline password recovery attempts.
