Code execution via installer-directory DLL loading
Published May 24, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
DLL search-path hijacking in the Overwolf Installer 2.168.0.n and earlier allows local users to execute code via a Trojan DLL. The installer resolves DLL dependencies through its own directory and loads a malicious DLL placed there instead of a trusted library. Exploitation requires the DLL to be placed beside the installer and a user to run it; the code inherits that user's privileges.
