Authenticated service crash via stack buffer overflow
Published Jun 28, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
A stack-based buffer overflow in IBM Security Identity Manager Adapters 6.0 and 7.0 allows remote authenticated users to crash the server. Improper bounds checking in the Windows Active Directory Password Synchronization Plug-in permits authenticated input to overrun a stack buffer, although IBM has not identified the affected routine or field. Exploitation requires valid remote credentials and interrupts service by crashing the host process, with no reported confidentiality or integrity impact.
