Username enumeration via differentiated authentication errors
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Information disclosure in IBM Cognos Controller 10.4.1, 10.4.2, and 11.0.0 allows remote attackers to enumerate usernames. The authentication interface returns different error messages depending on whether a submitted username exists, creating a response oracle for account discovery. Network access without authentication or user interaction is sufficient; the reported consequence is limited to disclosure of valid usernames.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
