Unauthenticated privileged actions via unrestricted CORS
Published Apr 26, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
CORS misconfiguration in IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.0 through 10.1.7 allows remote attackers to retrieve sensitive information. The web interface accepts arbitrary Origin domain names instead of restricting CORS responses to trusted domains, enabling cross-origin privileged requests and data reads. Unauthenticated network access is sufficient; successful requests can perform privileged actions and disclose sensitive data, without reported availability impact.
