CVE-2021-20256

BMC credential disclosure via host API

Published Feb 23, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Information disclosure in Red Hat Satellite 6 allows local users with view_hosts permission to read BMC passwords through the host API. The Foreman host API serializes a BMC interface password in plaintext instead of filtering the credential from its response. An authenticated Satellite account with view_hosts access can recover credentials used to manage a host's BMC controller.
