Remote code execution via incomplete gadget blacklist
Published Jan 19, 2021 · Updated Aug 27, 2025
Deserialization of untrusted data in FasterXML jackson-databind before 2.9.10.7 allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted JSON. SubTypeValidator omits the javax.swing.JTextPane gadget from its blocked subtype list, allowing polymorphic typing to instantiate a dangerous gadget during deserialization. Exploitation requires an application to deserialize attacker-controlled JSON with polymorphic typing enabled; successful chains can compromise confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
