Router configuration changes via reusable CSRF tokens
Published Dec 30, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in TRENDnet TEW-827DRU firmware 2.08B01 allows remote attackers to change settings via crafted requests. The apply.cgi handler accepts state-changing POST requests when anti-CSRF tokens are absent, stale, reused, or arbitrary instead of validating a fresh token. Exploitation requires an administrator with an active management session to load attacker-controlled content; the demonstrated request changes an FTP user's password.
