CVE-2021-20153Public exploit

Arbitrary file writes via BitTorrent symlink following

Published Dec 30, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Symlink following in TRENDnet TEW-827DRU 2.08B01 allows physically proximate attackers to write arbitrary files through BitTorrent. The integrated BitTorrent client follows attacker-created links in a mounted USB download directory and writes payloads to their targets. BitTorrent must be enabled and a malicious flash drive must be inserted; the resulting writes can place files anywhere on the device and enable code execution.
