CVE-2021-20142Public exploit

Unauthenticated root command execution via cmd parameter

Published Dec 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Command injection in Gryphon Tower Firmware 04.0004.12 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute commands as root over the local network. Operation 41 in controller_server executes the cmd parameter without neutralizing shell metacharacters, so a semicolon-prefixed value runs appended commands. Access to TCP port 9999 on the same network is sufficient, granting root-level control over the router and its traffic-handling functions.
