Stored script execution via dot-prefixed filenames
Published Jul 29, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in TCExam 14.8.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript through a viewed upload. The F_upload_file function sanitizes and accepts allowed names that start with a period, causing the web server to serve the moved file as HTML. Access to tce_select_mediafile.php is required, and another user must view the file before the payload executes in that user's browser session.
