Stored script execution via dotfile upload
Published Jul 29, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in TCExam 14.8.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script via uploaded dotfiles. The tce_filemanager.php upload handler serves valid files whose names begin with a period as text/html, preserving attacker-controlled JavaScript for execution when another user views the file. Access to the file manager is required and the resulting impact is browser-context script execution against the viewing user, with no reported server compromise or service interruption.
