SYSTEM code execution via Content-Length integer wrap
Published Jul 19, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Heap overflow in ManageEngine AssetExplorer Agent 1.0.34 allows remote attackers on the local network to execute code as SYSTEM. In httphandler.cpp, HttpQueryInfoW supplies an attacker-controlled Content-Length that is multiplied until it wraps, so calloc reserves an undersized buffer and InternetReadFile overwrites the heap. Exploitation requires impersonating the configured AssetExplorer server to induce a NEWSCAN callback; successful code runs as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
