Availability loss via unchecked meta-image length
Published Jul 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
An out-of-bounds read in Qualcomm Snapdragon boot firmware allows physically proximate attackers to disrupt devices via a meta image. The boot image flashing path fails to check the meta-image length before reading its buffer, allowing crafted data to trigger an out-of-bounds read. Physical access to the flashing path is required; Qualcomm does not specify whether availability loss takes the form of a hang, crash, reboot, or shutdown.
