Restricted-file disclosure via unchecked extension file URL
Published Sep 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper permissions in Shortcuts in Apple iOS and iPadOS before 14.5 allows local users to read restricted files through an app extension. INFile.init(fileURL:filename:typeIdentifier:) accepts a file URL from a third-party action extension without checking that the path stays inside that extension’s sandbox. A user must install and run a shortcut using the extension; exposed data is limited to files reachable in the Shortcuts sandbox, including cached location data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
