Code execution via out-of-bounds USD parsing
Published Apr 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Apple iOS, iPadOS, and macOS Model I/O allows attackers to crash applications or execute code via a crafted USD file. The Model I/O USD parser reads past the end of an allocated data structure because bounds checks do not reject malformed file data. Exploitation requires an affected device to process the file; public sources do not identify the initiating application or a more specific parser function.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
