CVE-2021-1748Public exploitNetwork attack vector

JavaScript execution via trusted data URI

Published Apr 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

URL validation in Apple iTunes Store on iOS, iPadOS, and tvOS before 14.4 and watchOS before 7.3 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript. The iTunes URL handler treats an attacker-supplied data URI as trusted and loads it in a local WebView, allowing injected HTML and script to run in the privileged StoreKitUIService context. Opening a crafted universal link redirects into the preinstalled store app; the resulting script can escape the browser sandbox, read sensitive app data, and launch other apps.
