A parsing issue in Apple iOS and iPadOS before 14.5 allows local users to modify protected file-system areas via directory paths. The Preferences component accepted malformed directory paths because validation failed to constrain path resolution to permitted locations. Exploitation requires a local account or malicious application on the device and can alter protected filesystem content, with no network attack path described.
