Code execution via PIC parser out-of-bounds write
Published Apr 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
An out-of-bounds write in ImageIO in Apple macOS before 11.2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted PIC image. The PIC parser writes crafted data past the end of an allocated data structure when ImageIO processes the file. Exploitation requires a user or application to process the image, and resulting code runs in the context of the affected process.
