Arbitrary code execution via out-of-bounds image read
Published Apr 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
An out-of-bounds read in Apple macOS ImageIO before 11.2 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code by supplying a crafted image. ImageIO insufficiently validates image data before a memory read, causing the parser to access bytes beyond the intended buffer. Exploitation requires a local process to open or otherwise process the image, and successful code execution runs in that process's security context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
