Windows Kernel elevation of privilege in affected Windows releases allows local users to gain elevated rights via a specially crafted application. The Windows kernel improperly handles objects in memory, allowing the crafted process to cross a privilege boundary and execute with higher permissions. Exploitation requires an attacker to log on and run the application locally; the resulting access can provide kernel-level control of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
